Scrum.org Assessments

Scrum.org provides tools you can use to assess your knowledge of Scrum. The aim of assessment is to provide information and enable improvement. Assessment provides individuals with information about their level of knowledge; individuals may choose to share that information with others if they see fit. Unlike certification, however, assessment makes no public claims of competence. The Scrum.org certification processes are built around the Scrum.org assessment process.

Scrum assessments are grounded in the Scrum Body of Knowledge, written by Scrum's founders Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. These materials are publicly available on Scrum.org. Our assessments are developed by Scrum thought leaders with formal input from a wide range of industry experts. We collect informal input from the larger Scrum community through large-scale beta testing and our online discussion boards. We monitor assessment results on an ongoing basis, performing extensive statistical analysis to ensure the integrity of our assessment instruments.

The Professional Scrum Master Assessment I and II assessments measure how well individuals understand the roles, rules, artifacts, and time-boxes that bind together the Scrum framework. These assessments are intended for those who wish to achieve Professional Scrum Master Level I (Fundamental) and Level II (Intermediate) certification. The fee for PSM I is $100, and the fee for PSM II is $500. Certification requires a minimum score of 85% is required for each level. No class is required for certification, but the Scrum-In-Depth Course is available to those looking for relevant instruction. The Scrum Open Assessment is a free, abbreviated version of the Professional Scrum Master assessment for those who are interested in testing their knowledge of Scrum, whether or not they are preparing for certification.

The Professional Scrum Developer Assessment measures how well individuals who have attended a Professional Scrum Developer course know how to develop software using Scrum on a specific technology platform. At present Professional Scrum Developer assessments are available for .NET and for Java. Eventually, these assessments will be open to the public as well. There is no fee for assessment beyond the fee for a Professional Scrum Developer Course. Each individual who achieves an assessment score of at least 90% is certified as a Professional Scrum Developer I.

Scrum.org Enterprise Assessments measure how well not just individuals but also teams, departments, and companies understand Scrum. Scrum.org assessments are invaluable tools for enterprise decision-makers to use in determining training needs, making staffing decisions, and evaluating service providers.
