Changes To PSM Certification Standards Take Effect August 15

- Scrum Admin
in Scrum.org News
Scrum.org is planning to modify the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification process on August 15. The purpose of these modifications is to increase the rigor of the PSM I assessment and consequently the value of the PSM I certification. The modifications in question include the following:
  • Aspiring PSMs will have just one chance to achieve a minimum score of 85% on the assessment.
  • Correct answers will not be displayed at the end of the assessment.
Previously, the assessment could be taken twice, and correct answers to exam questions were displayed after each attempt. This was done in the interest of learning.

Learning is still our primary interest, but we have found that individuals can achieve this objective using the free Scrum Open assessment. Scrum Open is a great practice tool for those targeting PSM I certification. Moving forward, we recommend using the Scrum Open assessment as a learning tool, and we will restrict the ways in which the PSM I assessment can be used as such.

The changes to the assessment will be effective for all individuals taking the assessment starting August 15, no matter when they registered.
