Hi,
I am a scrum master on a new team in a new organisation, There is a team member who in my opinion does not pull 100%.
I have noticed some things like : sometimes late for standup, not updating the tasks on board, little things like that, also a little bit negative retro meeting. I am new to a team so not sure what is the best way to approach this situation?

Treat it as a team problem in the first instance. Point out that not everyone is attending stand-ups on time and that not everyone is updating tasks on a timely basis.

Explain the risks of this to communication and transparency, and ask what they intend to do about it. Valid options include rescheduling the stand-up to a more convenient time, and a collective undertaking to update the board and derived information such as burn-downs.

Encouraging a team to self-organize in this way is more important than promoting the conscientious fulfilment of isolated responsibilities. If there is indeed an issue with one team member, you must first coach the team to acknowledge the associated impediments.
