Scrum for SAP customisation/enhancement projects

Dear Scrum Masters,

I just cleared the PSM I certification and wanted to apply my skills to my current project.

We are a small SAP team with one consultant per SAP module and offshore team setup. Currently we are following the waterfall methodology to implement small enhancements/customisations. However, we would like to promote ourselves to using scrum. Does scrum work with SAP customisation projects and if so, can you please provide guidelines/examples on how to set it up?

Hi Saravanan,
For customization or enhancement projects based on ERP software, it better to consider the ERP system as a platform.

At the end of a Sprint, the Development Team delivers an releasable increment which should be workable on the ERP system.

With a macro view, your product released might be a module, a sub system, a customized reporting service, etc.

With a business point of view, the module, sub system, or a service is indeed an useful product if it is integrated with the target ERP system.

Thank you for the quick response.

I still need to figure out how to involve the business teams[who give the requirements] to test the increment[business acceptance test] and give sign off to move to production.

Do we need to involve them as part of the scrum team?

There are two options I recommend:

Option 1:
The business teams is regard as the stakeholders.
The PO and DT should communicate with busniess teams to undestand the business requirements.
involve them as necessary throughout the development effort
The PO is responsible for involving them as necessary throughout the development effort and make sure to invite them to attend and interact in the Sprint Reviews.

Option 2:
The business team delegate a person to be the Product Owner.
