Hi Jermer,

When you say Domain Experts, are you talking about very technical resources from across the organisation?
Domain experts would be invited by the development team.

Examples might be that I can think about in my daily working life.

Penetration Testers
Infrastructure Engineers

Does that make sense to you?

Yes, the development team may consult other personalities outside of the Scrum Team to clarify or gain more insights on things that needs to be done.

As I interpret the scrum guide, the Development Team can even invite people outside of the organization (e.g. proper use of 3rd party components that is part of the architecture) to help them in their planning.

These invited people outside of the Scrum Team have no say whatsoever on what would be included in the sprint, It is solely the Development who will decide what will be included. Though the Development Team might be influenced by them.

In my experience, the Product Owner is invited to the Daily Scrums as a non-mandatory observer (not a participant). Their attendance is usually dictated by their availability and/or interest. The Scrum Master can work with the PO to help them understand ways they can gain visibility into sprint progress (Daily Scrums, Burndown Charts).

Also, the Scrum Master should attend the Daily Scrums to observe (and facilitate if needed) to ensure that proper Scrum practices are followed.

I believe you've provided practical advice as to what can and typically should happen within any mature delivery mechanism.

However, by the book for examination purposes, I would say, "should" is rather, "can", the SM has no requirement or obligation to attend, just to ensure the meeting happens.

Also, the Scrum Master should attend the Daily Scrums to observe (and facilitate if needed) to ensure that proper Scrum practices are followed.

Hi I have another question concerning participation in events. I have come across a statement that the Product Owner, though can delegate most of his/her duties to other people, has to take part in the events in person. Is that an official Scrum requirement?

What does the Scrum Guide say about who ought to participate in the various events? If the Product Owner did not participate in relevant events, how would he or she account for product value and the way it is maximized?

The Scrum Guide does not explicitly require the PO to attend any events. There are implicit statements that the Development Team may need the PO during the Sprint Planning and the PO has duties during the Sprint Review. While the PO can delegate duties, the PO remains accountable. I guess these questions are only relevant if the PO has multiple teams, otherwise, it would be strange to hear that the PO is 'not interested'.

Romuald, is it mandatory that the product owner attends the sprint review and sprint retrospective, or could he delegate that work to others, while he still remains accountable for the work?

The Scrum Guide makes it clear that the Scrum Team ought to be at those events, and that the Product Owner is a member of that team. So think of it this way. If the Product Owner definitely isn't going collaborate, you've definitely got a problem which needs to be solved.

Problem every Scrum master should figure is not who should be attending, but what to do when people who should be attending are not attending...

Like developers missing daily scrum, product owner not showing up at retrospective or some team members not present at planning..... 

Sprint planning: PO, SM and Developers are mandatory but people outside of the team can attend when invited to provide advice.

Daily scrum: Developer Mandatory. Anyone attending the Daily scrum should attend as a part of the development Team.

Sprint Review: PO, SM The Developers and the Important Stakeholders.

Sprint Retrospective: PO SM and the developers. The Entire Scrum Team.
