Hi, I've this question:

Two members of a Scrum Team can have different Scrum Masters?

What do you think about it?

A Scrum Team has one and only one Scrum Master.
Every member of a Scrum Team has the same Scrum Master.

As per the Scrum Guide "The Scrum Team consists of a Product Owner, the Development Team, and a Scrum Master. "

What would be the value in having multiple Scrum Masters for a single team? Your question makes me wonder if you are thinking of the Scrum Master like a functional manager? Scrum Masters are servant leaders for the team, and should not be thought of as a traditional manager whom team members answer to.

Guglielmo,

What would the reason be for having two separate Scrum Masters for a Scrum Team? What would the benefits be for having a Scrum Master dedicated to a specific team member?

Hello Guglielmo,

I did not understand the reason behind having multiple scrum masters for a scrum team. There should be only one scrum master in a scrum team.

Thanks

They can have different managers but not Scrum Master

Yes, I thought there can't be many Scrum Masters for a Scrum Team too, but I encountered this question:

Two members of a Scrum Team can have different Scrum Masters.

a. true
b. false

And it says: The correct answer is 'True'.

So I'm a little bit confused, maybe the practice test is wrong.

Which practice test? Where did you see this question?

+1 Ian

That answer from your "practice test" is unfortunately incorrect.

You need to be wary of sample Scrum tests from organizations that simply do not understand Scrum.

But can't it be that, because a PO can be of many Scrum Teams, he could have many Scrum Masters?

> But can't it be that, because a PO can be of many Scrum Teams, he could have many Scrum Masters?

Yes, because that is a different assertion to the one stated in the question. There's nothing in Scrum which says that each member of a Scrum Team must uniquely belong to that team and to no other.

Furthermore, it is true to assert that each member of any given Scrum Team must share the same Scrum Master, irrespective of how many teams are involved. That fact alone could falsify the question.

Where did you find this question? Which practice test is it from?

I don't know where the test is from, they have been sent to me by a colleague who attended a course organized by our company. But I'm beginning to doubt about these tests.
