Scrum Master - What 'Development Teams' Think
Recently I am back to market looking for Scrum Master/Coach contract positions. In the process I am asking my personal friends and contacts who are working as developers in the 'big' companies in our area. Here are some comments.
Healthcare Company: When asked do you have any scrum master/coach roles as your company is big agile advocate? Her Answer with smile: 'Scrum Master is not a job it is a role. We rotate among ourselves we do not have a dedicated scrum master jobs.
Telecommunication Company: What you are working as a Scrum Master? Do you want to be a Scrum Master? Please don't, it is a clerical job. They do update the tracking system with what ever we developers wanted to update. No body cares or gives respect to them in our company.
Banking Company: Scrum Muster, heeehee, we are firing all scrum masters and testers and hiring only Developers. Every role is performed by developers we don't need scrum master or tester.
I wanted to know if any one is aware of such 'point of view' and please share what did you hear from the developers.
In my experience, there is still a lot of misinformation/ignorance/misunderstanding regarding agile software development. Without exception, Scrum is only a buzzword far too often. Why?

Many companies are not willing to invest in people.
As the size of the organization increases, the difficulty of culture shift increases exponentially.
