Hello All,

I am delighted to share that I cleared the PSM 1 exam yesterday with 98.8% (79/80), on my first attempt.

Thanks to other members who had given useful insights/tips on how to prepare for this exam. These really helped in exploring the various options available for preparing for this exam, apart from going through the Scrum Guide in detail and understanding the significance of each line on it. Reading the Scrum guide after having a prior work experience of using Scrum helped better understand it and also was an eye-opener on how certain elements of the scrum framework could have been better implemented.

Below are my preparation tips that might be useful for others.

1. Reading and understanding the Scrum Guide in detail several times during the course of my preparation. I used a hard copy so that I could highlight important items.
2. Taking the Open assessement tests on Scrum.org for Scrum Open, Product Owner Open and Developer Open multiple times
3. Training courses from Chuck Cobb available on Udemy that made me aware of this certification
4. Going through all the videos and quizzes on http://scrumtrainingseries.com/
5. Going through the Scrum Master Training Manual on mplaza.pm
6. Subscribing to the Scrum awareness email course on mplaza.pm
7. Taking all the 3 tests on PSM I Simulated Exams repeatedly until I showed progressive improvement on the test scores up to 98% or more.
8. Taking the mock test on http://mlapshin.com/index.php/psm-quiz/real-mode/ repeatedly until I reached a perfect score

With dedicated preparation & focus and confidence gained by taking repeated mock tests, we could go for this examination with lot more confidence.

Good Luck to folks aspiring to take this certification !!!

Thanks

Congrats for such a wonderful score.
Which exams you are referring to in "7. Taking all the 3 tests on PSM I Simulated Exams"?
Also did you took paid course and test material for "5. Going through the Scrum Master Training Manual on mplaza.pm "?

Hi Saurabh,

Sorry for getting back late on your queries. Below are my responses.

7. Taking all the 3 tests on PSM I Simulated Exams

Management Plaza (mplaza.pm) website offers a paid course "PSM 1 Preparation Practice Exams" for $42 that has 3 practice exams that I found very useful. These exams help reinforce / master the concepts that you read on the Scrum Guide. It is a good idea to go over the explanations for answers to all the questions once you take an exam, as they provide additional insight. Also, I would recommend taking the set of 3 exams multiple times to see how your scores improve. These mock tests also helped me get the speed for attempting 80 questions in 60 mins.

5. Going through the Scrum Master Training Manual on mplaza.pm

The Scrum Master Training manual is available as a free resource on the mplaza website. I would recommend doing a quick reading of this material to get any additional info, while still using the official Scrum Guide as the bible.

Hope this helps. Good luck for your preparation.

Thanks
Padmini

How did you prepare for the PSPO and Developer open assessments? I followed your guidelines but can't pass those open assessments :(

10:44 pm December 23, 2016

I attempted PSPO and Developer open assessments just to get an overall awareness of all roles within the Scrum team. While there was no separate material that I used, just repeatedly attempting the various tests gave me a better idea of the pool of questions that are available for these assessment categories.

Hi All,

I am very happy to announce that I have cleared PSM-1 Certification Examination with 91.3% with a score of 73/80 in my first attempt. I found around 30-35 questions to be tricky and bit confusing. The main examination was of bit higher level than the common mock tests which we use to pursue for this  examination.

Thanks & Regards,

Soumya Konar

For me, it was all about determination, continuous reading and practice. Passed 71/80

I made use of PSM Exam simulators, went through the scrum guide for as much as I needed to.

Don't forget to bookmark any questions that you are not 100% sure of the answer.

have a pen and a notebook before starting the assessment.
