PSM III in comparison to PSM II

Don't expect to have the time to work through many "it depends" scenarios. What you need is the ability to appreciate the nature of a problem very quickly and to cut through to the nub of the matter. A rigorous understanding of Scrum is essential, almost to the point that your response becomes automatic, and is constrained more by the speed of your typing than your speed of reasoning. PSM III is anything but ponderous.

Hello Everyone,

I have passed the PSM-I and PSM-II certifications in the last 2 weeks with 94% and 92% respectively.

I would like to take up PSM-III soon. Today, when I was going through the PSM-III subject format and it says that: 

Format: Combination of 34 Multiple Choice and essay

Will there be multiple essay questions (or) one essay question. Earlier, this format was also not given.

Would anyone can throw light on this? It will be helpful for my preparation.

I passed the assessment in 2013 and it included 2/3 of essay questions.

It was really hard because I'm far from being fluent in writing English.

The essay questions are also very valuable become Scrum.org will give you a personnal feedback on your assessment. It's the reason why it is really more an assessment than a test :-)

Attempting the assessment is a very valuable experiment.

The exam is really about the essay questions, in my attempts I guess 85-90% of the available points were to gain in essays (just open questions, not article-writing).

I experienced much more time pressure than in psm 1 or 2. Explaining your reasoning is just way harder and more time consuming than figuring out which multiple choice answer is correct.

That said, it is very valuable as you get decent feedback either way to improve. I think the score specifically reflects the ability to discuss and apply scrum, which is different than figuring out if what somebody else says about scrum is right or wrong.
