Applying Professional Scrum

APPLYING PROFESSIONAL SCRUM is training for people who have just begun their work in Scrum or wish to get acquainted with it. During the workshop, framework mechanics are presented, and students will have to face prepared challenges and pitfalls to avoid them in real work-life. In addition to profound substantive knowledge of the key elements of Scrum, participants gain their first experience of working with this method.

TARGET GROUP

Scrum is one of the most used adaptive methods that impact organizations at every level. Therefore, Applying Professional Scrum training is intended for team members, management staff, and all entities cooperating with agile teams – everyone who wishes to experience the Scrum way of working and wants to improve their company.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Workshop goals include understanding the rules governing the Scrum mechanics.  During the course, participants learn basic concepts and experience new teamwork quality. They will be able to deliver value, implement creative team potential in a faster and more efficient manner, as well as to further develop towards becoming Scrum Master or Product Owner.

SCOPE OF THE TRAINING

During the Applying Professional Scrum training, participants will learn fundamentals of Scrum and how to apply them correctly, the history and circumstances of Scrum establishment, the most important elements of its structure, the specificity of project roles, their respective responsibility areas, and the dynamics.

After completing the training, the students will:

• know the characteristics of agile software development, the Scrum method, and its components (Roles, Events, Artifacts), the importance of communication between the client, stakeholders, and the team to maximize the value of the delivered product,
• be able to use scrum events and tools while working in self-organizing teams, correctly define roles and responsibilities within the team, plan work in projects using agile methods,
• be prepared to cooperate with agile teams, be more open and communicative, be more confident in risk events, and more cooperation oriented.

FORM OF TRAINING

Applying Professional Scrum is a two-day intensive workshop during which participants will build a simple software. The process is so simple that even people who are not familiar with this subject will manage it easily, yet complex enough to notice the mechanism of creating IT solutions. In addition to the basic modules and the core of the training in the form of software development, the trainer has a special set of exercises and extra tasks. Such a structure enables making a pitfall and remarks its consequences in safe conditions.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

All participants who fulfilled the Applying Professional Scrum course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment. PSM I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. APS class students who endeavor the PSM I assessment within 14 days from receiving their free passwords and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost. All students will also be entitled to a 40% discount on the PSM II valuation once passing PSM I.

PMI PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT POINTS

Students of Scrum.org courses can claim Project Management Institute (PMI) PDU credit: 14 PDUs after attending a two-day Applying Professional Scrum (APS) class. Please note that PMI PDUs are earned for course attendance and not for passing a Scrum.org assessment.
