Applying Professional Scrum
Live Virtual Class, June 15-16, 2023
Class Overview
This event takes place online
This live virtual class runs 15-16 June 2023, 09:00-17.00 BST.
Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is a course that provides the foundational knowledge needed to work with Scrum in a highly practical way. The course is a combination of instruction and team based exercises where students experience how the Scrum framework improves product delivery efforts.
Over the 2 days, students experience Professional Scrum: learning the framework and gaining insights into overcoming complexity, with team-based collaboration and self-organization as essential elements in mastering Scrum. Students work together as a team in a series of Sprints to build a product, thereby facing real-life problems. The rules, roles, and principles of Scrum are leveraged during the exercises. From its emphasis on the practical application of Scrum, the course exposes common missteps and misunderstandings so students grow a higher awareness of the associated symptoms. The course provides prescriptive guidance to avoid going off track and keep Scrum healthy.
Applying Professional Scrum is excellent training for organizations, teams and anyone wanting to experience the way of working in Scrum. The course also provides the foundation of knowledge needed for role-focused training for Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, and Leaders within the organization. Whether you are getting started on your first Scrum effort or refreshing your knowledge, this course gives students the knowledge and direction to start using Scrum immediately after the class.

Prerequisites
All experience levels are welcome. No previous Scrum training or experience is required, though it is recommended that participants read the Scrum Guide before the course.
For all of our live virtual classes, we use Zoom as our conference tool. Zoom is very secure. It uses end-to-end encryption and delegates can only access the conference via an admin controlled waiting room. Activities are carried out with Mural. No software is required to be pre-installed for these tools, though you may need to check that there are no security policies that block the use of these tools if you are joining us through a corporate network. We ask you to try to ensure a steady internet connection (for example by connecting through cable rather than with WiFi).
Certification and Assessment
All participants completing the Applying Professional Scrum course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment. APS class participants who attempt the PSM I assessment within 14 days of the class and do not score the pass mark of at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.
