Applying Professional Scrum for Software Development

Warszawa, December 2-4, 2019

Class Overview

PSD Training – The perfect Team-Training for Software Teams

The PSD Training is the ideal training for teams that create software – not only for programmers, but for all people involved in the development process. The training teaches the organizational and technological basics of how a team can successfully run incremental software development in short iterations using the Scrum framework. Thus, the PSD training not only fulfills the aim of knowledge transfer, but also is a real teambuilding event.

According to the motto „Experience Scrum”, the training not only conveys basic knowledge about Scrum, but also many tips and concrete learning experiences for practical application through a varied mix of theory blocks, exercises and working on a case study.

The core is the case study, in which the participants can apply the acquired knowledge from the initial planning to the implementation in three training sprints and then reflect on the insights gained. Real software is developed during the training. This offers the advantage that many of the challenges that arise correspond to the day-to-day work of a developer and that it is easier to transfer what has been learned into daily practice.

One of the core elements of Agility and Scrum is a continuous improvement process, in which continuous improvement and refinement is achieved by retrospectively reviewing the current working methods and processes. The participants also practice this important concept in the training. Since several exercise sprints are carried out, the effectiveness of the identified improvements can be verified immediately in the subsequent sprint.

For teams starting with Scrum, the PSD training offers perfect conditions. Ideally, all members of the Scrum team, including Product Owner and Scrum Master, take part in the training. The team can then smoothly adopt the rhythm of work that is set in the training into its everyday work. But also for teams that already work with Scrum, the PSD training offers many new ideas for improvement.

The PSD training imparts knowledge in the areas of Scrum, Practices and Tools. It is also about the interaction between the roles Development Team, Product Owner and Scrum Master and how a Scrum Team organizes itself in such a way that the most important goal behind software development is achieved – to create a great product. In addition to an understanding of the philosophy behind the Scrum Framework, technological practices and the collaboration within the development team are essential success factors – aspects that can be experienced within the context of the PSD training.
