Professional Scrum with Kanban

Dublin, October 4-5, 2019

Class Overview

Guaranteed to run!

All ticket holders for PSK will be vetted for event readiness. The standard to enter class is strong PSM I knowledge or equivalent (having the certificate does not guarantee that the trainer will be satisfied due to elapsed time since certification and other factors) + the quality of Scrum experience. PSK is a class where attendees need to not be talking about basic Scrum questions so the class can focus on adding Kanban to Scrum. No vetting occurs ahead of registration. No exceptions.

Embrace uncertainty, by booking you improve the likelihood of the class proceeding:). Systems Thinkers would understand that point:).

VAT additional. Eventbrite fees absorbed. VAT is treated automatically by Eventbrite. Location is not 100% confirmed, it is an approximate location. No responsibility is taken for costs resulting from cancellation/postponement. Please only book travel one week in advance and use no-commitment accommodation bookings that allow cancellation one week in advance without charges. WhatsApp John Coleman on +447908539437 or email johncolemanagile@gmail.com for more details. Minimum quorum needed to run this class.

More Information

Collect PDUs or other education units from John Coleman's Scrum.org classes. The credentials don't expire! The credentials have a higher standard than any competitive offering in the marketplace. There is a high mark to pass, and fewer attempts are available. Scrum.org has more consistent training. Would you prefer a credential that is easier to attain and possibly less valuable or a credential that sets a higher standard, and sets you apart? Virtually all of John's students get through after their 1st assessment, with 1 to spare. And the scrum.org community is a lovely community that embraces the Scrum values in its actions, not just in words.

Be prepared for an invigorating and exhausting class! Class sizes are small unless we learn a little about scaling topics when many people help with learning outcomes that relate to scaling.

John Coleman is an active practitioner with 14 years of experience in growing sustainable agility, real true agility. Learn from John's breadth & depth of current case studies with the latest trends and some leading & not yet known patterns. At John's highly rated training, John explains how being faithful to agility is key to success.

John Coleman is an Irish Professional Scrum Trainer, a candidate LeSS trainer / LeSS Friendly Scrum Trainer, organizer of ELNA (Executive Leadership Network for Adaptiveness), and Europe’s most prominent Professional Scrum with Kanban trainer. John practices with team, leaders, execs more than 80% of the time, so while that might make John less polished as a trainer, he can answer all sorts of up to date practical questions with ease. John coaches, teaches, consults for sustainable growth of agility in non-software as well as software. He created Broad and Deep agility (BaDa) on top of the shoulders of existing theory & practice.

John helps to reinvigorate in-flight agility growth and helps to start new growth.

John is a systems thinker who happens to be a huge fan of Cynefin and sees the benefits of both. Most importantly, John takes an independent view. But John is also a people thinker; he specialises in Spiral Dynamics Integral, Viral Change & other models.

John's Scrum+Kanban case studies can be found on www.scrumcasestudies.com (international payments company, European bank).

By completing John's classes, one is ready for a Scaled Professional Scrum class, a Certified LeSS Basics class, or a Certified LeSS Practitioner class by default, and join's the LeSS community.

John's clients, directly or indirectly, included Shell, BP, Barclaycard, Lloyds Banking Group, Vocalink, MBB consulting firms, Centrica / British Gas, the Musgrave Group, RR Donnelley, DELL, Nordic Aviation Services, TDS, 84.51, and Ericsson.

John's Scrum+Kanban case studies can be found on www.scrumcasestudies.com (international payments company, European bank). John is one of the world's busiest Scrum+Kanban practitioners.

"ACe agility chefs" is a brand for developing agility chefs. John helps to develop new agility chefs, budding experts in both agility and transformation, two separate bodies of knowledge. John helps to reinvigorate in flight transformations and helps to start new ones.

John is part of Marshall Goldsmith's #payitforward campaign and in so doing, sometimes offers free training to a selection of potential agility chefs. John is a key member of the #MarshallGoldsmithLead60 group, a cohort from the 16,000+ #MarshallGoldsmith100CoachesApplicants.

The marketplace is changing, and Scrum.org is leading the way. Learn from the very best and most current and practising trainers right now! Who knows, maybe you'll also be an agility chef at some point in the future!

All classes are delivered in English. You can ask the trainer, John Coleman, to slow down his speech and/or to re-explain in different words as often as you like. While the trainer is Irish, his accent is neutral for an Irish person, his taxonomy is neutral, and there haven't been any issues for those with good English.

Classes are usually small, and even if not, John Coleman uses techniques that make a large class run very well, to a limit. John Coleman does not train class sizes over his operational limit so attendees can rightly get the full benefit of his classes.

Sometimes, John Coleman will have a co-trainer, someone who is already qualified or who is building up experience. Some classes may have an assistant who speaks a local language. Please let John Coleman know in advance if you need him to bring an assistant trainer who speaks your language via john@ace.works; economics will hopefully be in our favour to allow that if there is enough demand.

Payment in advance is required, no exceptions. VAT plus online ticketing charges, if applicable, are additional. All documentation requirements for invoice payment by the training date must be declared at the outset. VAT is treated automatically by the online ticket provider, if applicable.

Location is not 100% confirmed, it is an approximate location. Location cannot be finally booked until final numbers are known. It's unusual for courses to get cancelled. Some classes require a minimum number of attendees. No responsibility is taken for costs resulting from cancellation/postponement.

Please only book travel one week in advance and use low-commitment accommodation bookings that allow cancellation one week in advance without charges. Most accommodation booking websites allow 24-hour cancellation in advance, please select that option. Please book travel at the last responsible moment (one week to go) using low-cost booking services such as Skyscanner or Kayak.

You may cancel up to the specified online ticketing deadline, or 7 days in advance, and if so, the refund would have deductions for bank transfer fees, therefore it's an almost full refund.

You may postpone your ticket with a minimum of three business days notice, thereafter your lack of attendance at the booked date will be treated as a cancellation with zero refund (due to planning & venue costs for class numbers).

Electronic manuals and Scrum.org assessment fees are included. Physical manuals are usually not provided. Teas/coffees/water & snacks are included, but special dietary needs may not be addressed by the snacks unless you advise me (hopefully the location can oblige). Neither breakfast nor lunch is included.

If the class attendees demonstrate additional ability, bonus content may get covered. However, the class pace can get set to a slower pace by even one attendee who has not prepared for class, as per pre-class communications. While John Coleman's style is to assume zero knowledge, some attendees may have negative knowledge, preconceived ideas that are incorrect according to Scrum.org.

Negative knowledge creates drag for a training class, hence John Coleman sometimes performs pre-training-screening-calls. While there are no formal pre-requisites for Scrum.org classes, the trainer may request in pre-training phone calls that some attendees go to Profesional Scrum Foundations/Scrum Master (by any Scrum.org trainer) to ensure a smooth learning experience, even if the booked class ticket needs to be postponed to another date, refunding if necessary less banking fees.

Wheelchair accessible venue/room set-up... If you have specific disability requirements, e.g., you require a free place for an assistant, please let John Coleman know in advance via john@ace.works.

The delivery content is a combination of slides, flip charts, and exercises. The focus is more on flip charts and exercises. The approach is a combination of experiential training and Training From The Back of The Room, regardless of the training course, while sticking to the Scrum.org learning objectives. Many practical problems get discussed. and more often than not, options to solve problems are presented. But some problems need sessions in themselves, and it would be unfair to distract the class if the entire class doesn't want to take that path and/or the trainer is getting concerned that the learning objectives might not be attained within the training course timebox. In addition, some topics could be completely outside the scope of the training class. To that end, some topics may need to be "parked". Some topics could be completely outside the scope of the training class.

Subject to GDPR or other regulations:

Attendees may be asked to optionally consent to receive communications, e.g., follow-up email newsletters.

A booking is not a guarantee of attendance. The trainer may need to contact attendees to assess their readiness for the training class. It is possible the trainer will recommend additional training / reading before you can be accepted into the booked class.

In order to get an assessment, the trainer must submit your name and email address to Scrum.org; Scrum.org may in turn send you regular newsletters.

Attendees will be invited to a slack channel for the class to enable communications before, during, and after the class.

Photographs and/or video permission will be requested in class for follow up marketing purposes. Review sites are useful but can be prone to fake revews, and hence less crediblity, even if very well accepted. To that end, Orderly Disruption is migrating to TrustPilot. Reviews & Testimonials will be requested in class; you can add the same review and star rating to each of VocalReferences, TrustPilot, and Google, to be performed optionally in class. Attendees may also be asked to provide feedback to Scrum.org. For these requests, regardless of the response, additional bonus learning content will be delivered.

A limited number of free of charge post training Zoom calls are offered. To book, attendees can arrange to meet me via Doodle on https://doodle.com/JohnColemanIRL

Attendees may be asked to join compatible communities, e.g., the LeSS community, the ACe community, the ELNA community.
