Course Overview

Solidify Your Knowledge Through Practice

Professional Scrum with Kanban™ (PSK) is a 2-day course that teaches Scrum practitioners how to apply Kanban practices to their work. Through theory, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will understand the importance of transparency and flow as it pertains to the Scrum framework.

Scrum is the defacto standard for how Agile teams work.  Scrum exists only in its entirety and functions well as a container for other techniques and practices.  Scrum Teams keep improving how they work, based on what they learn by inspecting and adapting on an ongoing basis.

What You Will Learn

Scrum with Kanban Class PictureIn this class, students will learn how additional practices from Kanban can be introduced into their Scrum Teams without changing Scrum.  They will learn how to add the right practices and the benefits that their Scrum Teams can achieve from using Scrum with Kanban.

Scrum.org and our Professional Scrum Trainers have worked with Daniel Vacantiand Yuval Yeret in the creation of this course, leveraging their Kanban expertise and knowledge.  In 2007 Daniel helped to develop the Kanban Method for knowledge work. He managed the world’s first project implementation of Kanban that year, and has been conducting Kanban training, coaching, and consulting ever since.  Yuval, who some call "Mr. Kanban Israel" is a recipient of the Lean Kanban community Brickell Key Award for his work helping establish a strong Kanban community with several enterprise product developments in Israel and worldwide. He has been helping companies large and small around the world with Scrum and Kanban since 2009 and his book "Holy Land Kanban" contains many of his stories from the trenches.

The Professional Scrum with Kanban course is for anyone doing Scrum. It is particularly beneficial for those people within an organization who use Scrum to deliver products to market including Product Owners, Development Team Members and Scrum Masters.

In addition to the new course, Scrum.org has also released a number of assets to learn more about Scrum with Kanban in the Scrum.org Resource Center and read the Kanban Guide for Scrum Teams. These assets provide best practices and guidance for Scrum Teams looking to add Kanban practices to how they work today.

Professional Scrum with Kanban Certification

All participants completing the Professional Scrum with Kanban course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum with Kanban I (PSK I) assessment.  If you attempt the PSK I assessment within 14 days and do not score at least 85%, you will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.

Why Scrum.org

Scrum with Kanban Class QuoteScrum.org provides the highest quality Scrum training, training materials and certified Professional Scrum Trainers (PSTs) to teach them. Our training materials are created and maintained by Scrum co-creator Ken Schwaber, Scrum.org and the PST community members who teach the courses, helping to ensure that they are in tune with what’s happening in software development organizations and always up-to-date with the latest practices.

Professional Scrum Trainers bring their own style and experience to the courses, but use the same materials so that students are learning from the same content regardless of who teaches the course or where it is taught around the world.  Read more about the differences.

Our Course Steward Model

Each Scrum.org course is assigned 2 stewards.  The steward is ultimately responsible for collecting input on the course materials, both those that exist and potentially additions to be made, review that input with the community along with Ken Schwaber and provide updates as required.

Each course is stored in GitHub, allowing version control, feedback mechanisms, distribution and much more, not unlike the code that Scrum Teams deliver for their products.  Through GitHub capabilities, a PST can submit feedback on a course materials, its delivery content, speaker notes, exercises and much more.  With over 200 PSTs around the world teaching the materials, that provides a fantastic number of people to provide excellent feedback to improve the content and quality of the courseware.
