About training

Applying Professional Scrum™ (former Professional Scrum Foundations) is a 2-day course that provides the foundational knowledge needed to work with Scrum in a highly practical way. The course is a combination of instruction and team based exercises where students experience how the Scrum framework improves product development efforts. The course also includes a free attempt at the globally recognized Professional Scrum Master I certification exam (PSM I).

Scrum Teams succeed best with a solid foundation and this two-day course prepares individuals or teams to begin effectively using Scrum immediately. The Scrum framework, mechanics, and roles of Scrum are emphasized with a focus on practical application.

Common missteps in the adoption of Scrum have been seen repeatedly across industries, companies and teams. Rather than coaching teams back from a poorly functioning Scrum implementation, APS (former PSF) exposes these common missteps, increases the awareness of the associated symptoms, and provides prescriptive guidance to avoid going off track.

Course objectives

Workshop goals include understanding the rules governing the Scrum mechanics.  During the course, participants learn basic concepts and experience new teamwork quality. They will be able to deliver value, implement creative team potential in faster and more efficient manner, as well as to further develop towards becoming Scrum Master or Product Owner.

Form of trainig 

APS is a two-day intensive workshop during which participants will build a simple software. The process is so simple that even people who are not familiar with this subject will manage easily, yet complex enough to notice the mechanism of creating IT solutions. In addition to the basic modules and the core of the training in the form of software development, the trainer has a special set of exercises, traps and extra tasks. Such structure enables making a mistake and notice its consequences in safe conditions.

Examination process

All participants completing the Applying Professional Scrum™ (former Professional Scrum Foundations) course receive a password to take the Professional Scrum Master I certification exam (PSM I). 

PMI Personal Development Units

All students of Applying Professional Scrum™ (former Professional Scrum Foundations) class can claim 14 Personal Development Units (PDUs). Points are earned for course attendance and not for passing a Scrum.org assessment.
