This is a 2 day immersive and interactive course that helps students gain an understanding of the intent and application of Professional Scrum, through the perspective of the Product Owner. Working through a series of exercises and discussions, you will build a strong understanding of how to maximise product value using the Scrum framework. This course prepares you for the PSPO I assessment.

Course Experience
There are many myths and misconceptions about the role of the Product Owner. The accountabilities of the Product Owner, however, go well beyond managing the Product Backlog and writing User Stories. The Product Owner is pivotal to bridging business strategy and product execution in order to help the Scrum Team create valuable products.
In this two-day class students will develop and solidify their knowledge of the Scrum framework and the accountabilities of being a Product Owner through instruction and team-based exercises. Students learn techniques that they can use to help them overcome the challenges that are often encountered on a day-to-day basis. They will do this while learning better ways to work with the organization, stakeholders, customers and their team to provide greater value in the product being delivered.

Assessment Certification
All participants completing the Professional Scrum Product Owner course receive a password to take the Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I) assessment. The industry-recognized PSPO I certification requires a minimum passing score of 85%. PSPO class participants who attempt the PSPO I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a second attempt at no additional cost.
You are also entitled to a discount on the PSPO II assessment once passing PSPO I.
About the trainers
Andy Hiles
Andy is a highly experienced agile practitioner, Scrum coach and Professional Scrum Trainer.
Over his 13 years of working in both the private and public sectors, he has developed a deep understanding of the challenges around organisational complexity and the impact on delivery teams and behaviour.
His first agile experience was working as part of a small development team within the British Computing Society. It was there that Andy learned the true value of how close stakeholder interaction with rapid feedback can lead to teams producing great results while retaining a significant focus on return on investment and business value.
Andy has worked with software delivery for both product and service organisations. He is an experienced Scrum Coach with recent examples of his ability to build up new Scrum teams to become highly successful Scrum delivery practitioners.
A firm believer that great teams build great products, Andy strives for success and in doing so displays his experience and passion for agile in every engagement.
Steve Trapps
Steve is an experienced Scrum Master and Professional Scrum Trainer with 20 years plus of experience in delivering complex products in many different business sectors. He started his career as a software developer, working for Nestle before moving on to work for Sky building applications & websites for many of the English Premier League football teams.
Previously being a developer, Steve has worked in various teams (Scrum and none Scrum) so comes packed with real-life stories. From Start-Ups building the next social media network, up to large corporations handling thousands of transactions a second. If you want to learn from someone who has been there, then Steve would be able to share experiences to help you on your way.
In May 2004 and after spending 6 months working on a very demanding & soul-destroying project Steve decided to look for a better way to deliver products. It was either that or leave the industry. This led him to look into Agile approaches and in particular Scrum - his aim was to know to empower teams and individuals to make the right choices at the appropriate time.
Over 16 years+ later on from 2004, Steve's focus is still on helping individuals & teams to reach their full potential through professional development coaching and professional training.
