We are currently discussing how to select the Location of the daily scrum. As a SM I do prefer to have the Team selecting it, but I could also imagine to gather around the scrum board. What do you prefer / suggest?

Are the team able to use the area around their desks as a collaboration space?

For instance, can they just hold in-depth discussions there and start writing on whiteboards/walls/windows etc without being disturbed, or disturbing others?

If so, that might be the right location.

Perhaps you want to help the Development Team understand what might be useful in a location, but I agree that it would be better if they choose that location for themselves.

You might want to find out what their absolute dream location would be, as this may show how your organization's existing office space or perceived norms of working are holding them back.

Perhaps there could be a place in their area, this is a good idea. Is it according to the scrum giude that the best place is where the Team thinks is best?

Not explicitly, but as a self organizing team, I think it's a logical conclusion.

As a Scrum Master, what do you think of the discussion?

Are the team trying to find 15 minutes out of a busy day to refocus on meeting the Sprint Goal?
