Hi all,

Innovation rate is "The percentage of effort or cost spent on new product capabilities, divided by total product effort or cost. This provides insight into the capacity of the organization to deliver new product capabilities" in the EBM guide.

My team calculates the innovation rate by dividing the number of new features into bugs. My concern is our calculation whether is true or not.  Should we calculate the sum of the story points of the stories?

It will be true to whatever quantitative technique they use. If story points are estimated in terms of time, effort, complexity, something else, or a function thereof, the innovation rate you describe calculating will be expressed in those terms.
