Hello everyone!

I'm a beginner in Scrum, and never had any experiences with any kind of software development teams or any sort of related projects; I have a degree in psychology. I'm about to take the PSM I exam soon, but besides the certification itself, what else would be good to know/have before start applying for Scrum Mater jobs? Any other important themes I should study more or get certified in?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, psychology. People may want change, but they rarely want to change...and it isn't your company to change at all. So find out who actually wants different outcomes, and why. Who will create the necessary sense of urgency for systemic transformation to happen? There's an organizational gravity to be overcome.

Experience will trump a certification badge any day. Don't get me wrong, the PSM I is a good start but you need either direct experience or have transferable skills such as coaching, leading, facilitation, etc.

Try to join a Scrum Team as a Developer. In addition to that look for volunteer opportunities to use Scrum. Join a Meetup. Read lots of books and blogs.

Scrum on!

I would strongly suggest PSMI AND PSM II Certifications. Also, try to learn SM Roles/Responsibilities/Experiences. Few web-sites are provided below. It's all about right exposures. We learn from experiences and it might be challenging at the first job but don't worry. You will be all-right. Just try to get a Junior Scrum Master role initially to learn more practical..All the best and I am sure, you will be successful!
