One Team or Two Teams

I work for a relatively small company.  We currently have two teams, one functioning on a scrum board and one in Kanban.  We are currently in the process of reducing the size of our scrum team.  We are contemplating combining them into one team.  I am relatively new to Agile so was wondering what others thought about the pros and cons of combining them.  They work on primarily different work, but there are times when the work intersects.  One of the thoughts is that combining would save time on meetings by reducing the number of stand-ups, planning, and retro meetings.  However, the team working in the Kanban board is far less experienced in Agile processes, pointing, sprints etc. Are there any other benefits anyone can see to combining them?  If we do combine, would it make more sense to combine into a scrum team or Kanban team?  Thanks for any input.

What benefits, exactly? How would the reduction of focus, and the opportunities to inspect and adapt, assist teamwork in either case?

Why don't you ask the remaining team members how they feel would be best to organize?  They are the ones that have to do the work in that new organizational model.  Let them decide how they can do it best.

Being agile means you can adapt to changes quickly so that the right products are being delivered when they are needed.  Being Agile means you are using some preconceived processes and routines that someone else felt would be useful to others and would allow them to make money to support/sell.  I think you would want to be agile instead of Agile.
