I’m going to start a project as a Product Owner. I have decided to share what I do step by step throughout the project. So it lets you see in real time how a product is being built.

Let’s get started with the definition of the problem.

Imagine a trainer wants to run a training business. What do they need to setup and run their business?!

Let’s break it down:

  1. Infrastructure: They need infrastructure to setup their classes or courses.  (It includes having a website for the online presence, creating course landing pages, booking management, payment processing, …). Among players in this stage, we can name Kajabi, Teachable, EventBrite, …

  2. Course marketing: They need a platform to promote their training business, courses, and their brand. In fact, they need a place to expose themselves. As examples, usually trainers use Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, … to promote their courses.

  3. Course delivery: If they have recorded courses, they need a place to deliver course materials to the students, like a place where students can watch course videos or take quizzes. In this case, some players are Udemy, Coursera, Pluralsight, …

More than that, if they run live online classes, they need a tool for online collaboration. Services like Miro and Mural serve this purpose.

The big question:

Why isn’t there a one-stop-shop service for trainers to setup, operate, and expand their training business?!

So, we want to build that platform. I know, it is a big initiative and it would be for a long time. But we want to start from a niche to learn and adapt throughout the project.

To do so, we will start by building the required infrastructure by which trainers can setup their training business and run their classes. Our target audience for the first step is IT Trainers who just run live classes. We don’t serve recorded courses.

So, stay with me throughout the project.
