Imagine someone asks you to explain what Agile is. What would you say?
This is my answer:
Agile is the ability of the organization to rapidly and consciously respond to changes while controlling risks.
The Longman Dictionary defines Agile as the ability to move quickly and easily.
Think of a cheetah—a fast-running animal. When a cheetah hunts, it doesn’t just run fast; it constantly adjusts its direction based on the movements of its prey. That’s how it catches food and survives. Its efforts must stay aligned with the changing path of the prey.
The same idea applies to business. Suppose a client requests a new, small feature, but it takes you one year to implement and deliver it. Would they see your company as a responsive company?! Absolutely not.
At its core, Agility is about being adaptive and open to change.
Your company is the cheetah; business opportunities are the prey. If you want to thrive, you need to adapt.
At the end, Agile is a mindset or approach that demands new behaviors. You need to invest in yourself to become literally adaptive and open to changes without any resistance and a hidden internal guard.
