Scrum in Singapore: The Rise of Kiwii

November 3, 2025
Scrum Singapore, The Rise of Kiwii

Picture this: Singapore, 2025. You've got over 3,700 multinational corporations setting up shop here, the government pushing hard on digital transformation with the Smart Nation initiative, and everyone's talking about Agile this and Scrum that.

You can learn Scrum from anywhere. YouTube videos. Blog posts. That guy at the meetup who swears by their approach. Your colleague who took a course three years ago. The internet is full of advice. But here's the brutal truth: just because you can learn something anywhere doesn't mean you're learning it right.

Where in Singapore can you learn about Agile and Scrum the way it's actually meant to be learned? Where do you get training that's not just someone's opinion, but globally validated, locally relevant, and backed by the organization that created Scrum itself?

That's where Kiwii comes in. This is our story.

The Singapore oppertunity

The Singapore Opportunity: A Market Ready for Change

Singapore's business scene is pretty unique. We're talking about a place that's:

  • A melting pot of cultures (try navigating a meeting with colleagues from five different countries)
  • A financial hub that never sleeps
  • A tech innovation center that's basically Asia's Silicon Valley
  • A gateway to 650+ million people in Southeast Asia

In other words, it's a complex environment, perfect for Agile and Scrum to thrive.

The Growing Agile Movement in Singapore

Want proof? Look around:

  • Regional Scrum Gathering Singapore 2025: It's called "Agile at 60" because it celebrates Scrum turning 30 and Singapore turning 60. How cool is that? [1]
  • GovTech is doing it: Singapore's Government Technology Agency is all in on Agile. They're using it to build better digital services for citizens. [2]
  • Thriving Agile communities: Singapore has multiple active Agile communities with thousands of members. Agile Singapore alone has over 6,000 members, with groups like Agile Circles Singapore, Kanban Singapore, and others regularly hosting events and sharing best practices. [3]
  • Smart Nation means Scrum Nation: The government's Smart Nation push means everyone needs Agile skills. Like, everyone. [4]

So yeah, Agile is happening here. Big time.

But Here's Where We Came In...

As Singapore's Agile community flourished, with thousands of professionals gathering at meetups, sharing experiences, and building momentum, we saw an opportunity. These communities are powerful, but how do you distinguish proven best practices from well-intentioned experimentation?

We set out to create what didn't exist yet: a local Scrum.org official training provider in Singapore. A Singapore-based organization that understands both Scrum and Singapore's unique business environment. A partner that brings globally validated Scrum.org training, locally adapted for Singapore's multicultural teams, regulations, and work culture.

That vision became Kiwii. And that's what we're building today.

Why Kiwii? Our Story

Kiwii started with a powerful mission: Spreading Agile and Scrum the right way. The way they're actually meant to be. Not just training. Not just certificates. But unlocking true potential to eventually solve complex problems in an empirical way.

Helping individuals discover they can lead differently, think differently, work differently. Empowering teams to deliver better, faster, transforming from groups into unstoppable units. Enabling organizations to shift from rigid hierarchies to responsive, customer-focused powerhouses.

We're here to help Singapore unlock its true potential, one person, one team, one organization at a time. Explore more insights on our blog and discover how Agile transformation can benefit your organization.

We wanted to create something different, a training experience that:

1. Gets Singapore (For Real)

Singapore isn't your average city. Research shows that implementing Agile in Singapore faces unique challenges: organizations with traditional hierarchical structures often resist Agile's emphasis on autonomy and collaboration. In cultures with high power distance, team members may be less inclined to voice opinions or challenge decisions, which is essential for Agile's collaborative nature. [7]

This is Singapore. Where East meets West. Where traditional structures can clash with Agile's flat hierarchies. Where "yes" might mean "I understand" not "I agree." Navigating these cultural dynamics requires deep local understanding that only comes from being truly embedded in Singapore's unique business environment. [8]

From experience, we know what makes Agile training in Singapore actually work: Multicultural teams? We've got five different countries in one room. Regulations? Banking compliance isn't startup rules, and healthcare isn't fintech. Work culture? Where respect for hierarchy meets "just ship it fast." Communication? Same language, completely different codes.

We get it. Because we live it. Every single day

2. Make It Actually Accessible

Look, we're not going to pretend training is cheap. But it shouldn't require a small loan either. So we:

  • SkillsFuture Eligible: Use those credits. Seriously, they're there for a reason. [6]
  • Fair Pricing: No hidden fees, no surprise charges for breathing in our classroom.
  • Flexible: Want in-person? Cool. Need virtual? We've got that too.
  • Support After: We're not ghosting you after day 2. You'll have resources and a community.

3. Theory? Practice? Why Not Both!

Traditional training leaves you stuck: you finish, get certified, then face real-world processes, legacy tools, regulations, and hierarchies that training never prepared you for.

We do it differently:

  • Real Stories: Real companies. Real problems. Real solutions from Singapore.
  • Hands-On: Less PowerPoint, more doing. Workshops, games, activities.
  • Useful Stuff: Templates, techniques, tips you can use Monday morning.
  • Singapore Context: We show how this works here, not in hypothetical Silicon Valley startups.
  • Deep Understanding: We help you understand Agile and Scrum values and principles, so you can navigate real-world challenges and drive change from intrinsic motivation, not just because someone told you to.

  • Ongoing Support: Facilitators continue supporting organizations after training
  • Singapore-Specific Solutions: Approaches developed specifically for Singapore's multicultural teams and business environment

This partnership ensures you learn battle-tested wisdom from people making Scrum work in banks, startups, government agencies, and multinational corporations right here in Singapore.

Our Journey (So Far)

Kiwii started with a vision: to bring Singapore's first official Scrum.org training provider that truly understands both Scrum and Singapore's unique business environment. That led to becoming Singapore's official Scrum.org partner, understanding local market needs, building Singapore-specific content, and finding trainers who know both Scrum and Singapore.

Today, we're serving professionals from banks and finance, tech companies (startups to enterprises), government agencies driving digital transformation, MNCs implementing Scrum across Asia, and startups building with Agile from day one.

Tech companies in SG

Why Singapore? Why Now?

Singapore is special: a regional hub to 650+ million people in Southeast Asia, a financial center, a tech innovation hub with startups and unicorns, strong government support through Smart Nation initiatives, and MNCs using it as their Asia base.

The timing is right: post-pandemic work rethinking, digital transformation demands, SkillsFuture government support, a growing job market for Agile and Scrum roles, and companies needing a competitive edge that Agile provides.

We're Here for Singapore (Long Term)

We're building something real: training the people building Singapore's future, making training accessible to startups and entrepreneurs, supporting government digital transformation, and building a lasting community.

We're committed to always improving based on your feedback, expanding our course portfolio as Scrum evolves, growing community events and networking, and working with organizations that matter.

The future of Scrum in Singapore looks exciting: AI and Scrum integration, enterprise scaling, government Agile transformation, and Singapore companies bringing Scrum across Asia. We'll be right there with you, figuring it out together.
