Hello,

I came across a situation where the PO has raised a concern on the slow pace of delivery due to inexperienced resources on a newer technology. The technology cannot be changed as its strategic to the organization's journey. The PO however want their solution quickly as they are part of the business team paying for the project and do not care about the technology.
How would a SM resolve this conflict.

Does the PO have a solution they might care to share? If not, coach the Product Owner to use the Product Backlog to prioritize the work he or she considers to be most valuable, and also to make forecasts based upon empirical evidence (e.g. a Product Backlog burndown) so stakeholders (e.g. the business team) can be updated. The Product Owner is accountable to stakeholders for whether or not sufficient value is delivered for the investment made.

Scrum is not about moving fast and delivering more features BUT delivering the most valuable features first.

Also the Scrum Master can work with the Development Team and their line manager for arranging trainings, workshops for improving the technical competency, if required.

And how does one counter the PO's argument that they are paying for the project.

@ Sanjay, the trainings have happened, but it takes time to gain the experience on a new technology.

Doesn't matter if the technology is new or old, the PO/business will always want the solution quickly. So it is not the Scrum question - as rightly said by Ian, its the matter of coaching Product Owner. Scrum cannot solve training issues but will help the team decide how many stories can they deliver. So preference will be not to commit too much in a Sprint under pressure from PO.
