The AI Race: Don't Lose Sight of Your Greatest Asset - Your People

โ€ข Countries want to lead.
โ€ข Corporations want to dominate.
โ€ข Everyone wants to be first with the most advanced AI systems.

But in the noise of this race, I see something deeply unsettling:
๐——๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฝ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ.

Last week, I spoke with a ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ from a Fortune 500 company โ€” someone who led a team of 100+ people โ€” and who just lost his job. He asked:

Heโ€™s not alone.
Veterans โ€” ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€, ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€, ๐—ฉ๐—ฃ๐˜€ โ€” are suddenly being ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐˜ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฑ.
Not for lack of capability, but because the narrative has changed:

โ€ข I see Fear of Missing Out (FOMO).
โ€ข I see decisions driven by ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฐ โ€” not ๐—ฝ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ฒ.

Many organizations are abandoning their ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—น๐˜€ to chase the AI dream.

But here's the danger:
โ€ข What if the new youโ€™re chasing is a mirage?
โ€ข What if, when you finally look back, your foundation is gone?
โ€ข What if the people who built your success no longer feel seen โ€” or needed?

๐—”๐—œ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ.
But itโ€™s not magic.
