[VLOG] How To Improve Organisation Agility Using The Scrum Values

April 10, 2021

What is up awesome people? Many people asked me whether it is possible to do Scrum without having all of the Scrum elements in place and along those lines, they also asked me whether it is possible to be agile without using Scrum as a whole. In this video I share with you a technique I have been using when introducing and also improving the organisation agility using the Scrum Values. You can also try out the exercise I explained in the video. Let me know how it works in your company. Have an awesome weekend.

Thanks for the video. It is full of very good advices. I don't get one part; don't you think that focusing on what is possible today and searching too much for semplicity can be the opposite of 'commit to say no to ... Cutting corners'? Sometimes we cut corners because we want something simple and possible 'today' without looking with courage on the correct answer which is sometimes complex and not possible today.

@disqus_dDteo69pXU:disqus simplicity does not mean cutting corners. Cut corners here means cutting quality.
Einstein promotes simplicity but does he ever cut corners in his works?

I worked in a team who said they want to setup Kubernetes and database sharding starting from Sprint #1. But they don't need it at that time. It does not mean they don't ever need it though. They should implement it when they actually need it. Now they do not have to cut quality in the products even though they don't use Kubernetes and db sharding.

This is a great video. Is it possible to get a copy of the final board output for future reference?

Brilliant video, thanks. Where can I find a full list of metrics?

Hi @alexander_shikanga_tindi:disqus . I haven't made the video on metrics yet. You can see some sample metrics on the video at minute 18 here https://youtu.be/7fXXRCeJ1S...
Just pause the video so you can see some of the metrics.

I would like to add that simple does not necessarily mean "quick and dirty" and cutting corners. Sometimes the simple solution only becomes apparent after carefully dissecting the problem at hand.
In my team I often try to spend a short amount of time pointing out the "green field solution" first, followed by reasons why it is not possible today, and from that deriving the most simple solution possible today.

@jan thanks for joining the discussion. Yes I agree with you.
Simple does not mean cutting corners. I am not sure why many developers think that way though. 🧐

It just means we should strive the simplest solution that works for today’s contexts without thinking too far ahead.
