Why Do Large Companies Struggle So Much With "Agile Transformation"...?

September 17, 2020

Do you know anyone who has scars from trying to help large, multi-billion dollar organizations travel on the path to Agility? Do you know if those scars still hurt? And do you know why helping large travel on the path to Agility (what I used to call "Agile Transformation") can be so scarring....?

Well I do know someone who has these scars - me! And I do know if those scars still hurt - they do. (Real bad.) And I created this video to share my opinion on why helping large organizations with Agility can be so painful. How does it compare to your perspective...?

What did you think about this post?

Yip, typical for those big players. And one of the reason why organizational change/transformation needs top management attention.

The team members are focusing on what their supervisors are doing and/or on their incentives. If the management is not understanding and/ or driving agility as priority the initiative will most propably fail.

If you want to change your organisation top management needs to be part of it

They have an issue leaving Taylorism in the executive positions and Agile can live under Talorism.

Here's my take. They tend to make naggy, non-technical people scrum masters. I believe this is so managers don't have to talk to anyone who says that what they want to do either can't be done or will take longer than they want it to. It makes for a miserable experience for developers and creates unreasonable expectations for managers.

Thanks @disqus_yIbecdv4zD:disqus. I agree. Hope we can work together to shift executive thinking from Taylorism to self-organization and servant leadership.

Thanks @disqus_eFHFZQ7RD6:disqus. I hope we can work together to improve the understanding and application of Agility in general and the role of the Scrum Master to reduce such situations.
