    Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right forum, but I am hoping to get some advise on how to best work with a Junior programmer. I have employed Juniors before and it has worked out ok, but there must be a tried and tested, best practice and method for getting the most out of the situation.

And I don't mean in a sweatshop kind of way. Something that works commercially and for the Junior as well.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Have you tried assigning a mentor for the junior programmer? Or pair programming?
Have you asked the junior developer what training would help them perform better at their job and then got them that training? Have you asked other team members for feedback on what could help improve the performance from the junior member?
