Hi all,

Hope you are all doing great even in this situation.

The other day I was having an small discussion with some colleagues regarding one topic.

Imagine you are about to launch a new product into the market, really simple, no heavy user interaction (at the beginning at first). Would you add a login step If it wasn’t 100% necessary? We were thinking pros and cons. As pro of not, user could perform actions directly and fast without no need of data. On the other hand, if we already store user info, maybe later the process is less traumatic and it makes easier future upadates.

As a summary, would you include always a login process even if there is no benefit for you? Or would you add it later even if it means “upsetting “ people who is already using it?

De Eager to read your answers ;)

thanks

Does the absence of user verification present risk, and technical debt that would have to be paid off in the future? If so, is the debt worth incurring now, and do you have a plan to pay it back? Bear in mind that technical debt ought to be captured on the Product Backlog and has a tendency to compound geometrically.

How about a middle-ground? Many companies are getting away from creation of user accounts and passwords and instead log the end user in through a one-time code sent to them via text or authenticated using an authenticator app.
