FOREWORD

I see that this could be country, culture or domain/industry dependent, so let's leverage the fact we are a Community to have different answers.

QUESTIONS

1) What are the most common questions which are asked in real life when interviewing a Scrum Master?

2) What kind of questions would address soft skills? (Bonus: how would you approach it in an interview?)

3) Which ones you think that should be asked, but they are actually not?

There is no Golden rule or silver bullet. In general most companies are validating if the candidate Scrum master or PO fits into their own company culture, Agility vision and way of work, so set of questions can be any, most unexpected combination

You should approach it like entering alliance from your side too, so if interview does not go well, it means you are not a match for one another.

It might be a good thing too, because often sinking company are actually trying to see if they can hire a SM and PO not to safe themselves but to sink together, and this is evident at the interview.

In general if company send a hard core professional recruiter with almost no knowledge of your domain and set of dull questions like "why have you chosen our company", "what is your biggest achievement", "what is your biggest failure", and so on, its a sign you might be entering a wrong place

Another warning signs might be excessive pressure, almost interrogation style interview, or on the contrary the situation when questions are too general without going into details

Just like the interviewer possibly is checking out your dress code and behaviour, its a good idea to see what is at the other side as well, through video conference or visit. Bad office setting, strange environment, weird behavior's should be warning signs for candidate that he might be trying to enter a wrong place.
