Scrum with UX: Moving Beyond Design Sprints

Many organizations are taking inspiration from the ideas and practices of design thinking and lean UX to create better products. And many of those same organizations use Scrum to deliver value in a more agile way.
Are these 2 worlds compatible? There continue to be many attempts to connect scrum and UX, and they continue to struggle. Can you build a cross-functional scrum team that integrates designers successfully? How do design practices fit into the scrum way of working? In this talk, Jeff Gothelf, the co-author of the book Lean UX, and Dave West, CEO and Product Owner of Scrum.org, discuss the challenges and benefits of bringing practices from lean UX to Scrum Teams. They answer questions about empirical learning, managing the backlog, understanding the customer and resolving the dual challenges of team composition and “fitting” design activities into scrum cadences.
