Meet the Scrum.org Staff

Ken Schwaber

Ken Schwaber

Chairman, Founder and Co-Creator of Scrum

Ken Schwaber co-developed the Scrum framework with Jeff Sutherland in the early 1990s to help organizations struggling with complex development projects. One of the signatories to the Agile Manifesto in 2001, he subsequently founded the Agile Alliance and Scrum Alliance. He founded Scrum.org in 2009 in order to execute on his mission of improving the profession of software development. A 30-year veteran of the software development industry (from bottle washer to boss), he has written four books about Scrum: Agile Software Development with ScrumAgile Project Management with ScrumThe Enterprise and Scrum, and Software in 30 Days. He lives in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Dave West

Dave West

CEO and Product Owner

Dave West is the CEO and Product Owner at Scrum.org. He is a frequent keynote at major industry conferences and is a widely published author of articles and research reports, along with his acclaimed book: Head First Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, that helped define new software modeling and application development processes. He led the development of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) for IBM/Rational. After IBM/Rational, West returned to consulting and managed Ivar Jacobson Consulting for North America. Then as VP, research director Forrester research where he ran the software development and delivery practice. Prior to joining Scrum.org he was Chief Product Officer at Tasktop where he was responsible for product management, engineering and architecture.

Christina Schwaber

Christina Schwaber

Chief Financial Officer

Christina is a cofounder of Scrum.org. She was a member of the first scrum teams, before the company knew they were doing Scrum. Her expertise is quality assurance and testing. She taught Ken the importance of test driven development and the definition of done. She also helped write and edit Ken's books and develop and teach classes.

She is a PST and today her role is Chief Financial Officer and controller of Scrum.org.

Eric J Naiburg

Eric Naiburg

Vice President of Marketing and Operations

Eric is co-author of UML for Database Design and UML for Mere Mortal. Eric is currently responsible for all aspects of marketing, support, outbound communications and operations for Scrum.org.  Previously he held the role of director of marketing for INetU (now ViaWest). Before INetU, Eric was program director at IBM and Rational Software responsible for application lifecycle management (ALM), DevOps and Agile solutions Eric has held product management and marketing roles with other organizations including: Ivar Jacobson Consulting, CAST Software and Logic Works Inc. (Acquired by Platinum Technologies and CA), as product manager for ERwin.

Ryan Eastabrook

Ryan Eastabrook

Chief Technology Officer

Ryan serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and is tasked with leading the technical vision of the company by ultimately maximizing value for customers through the Scrum.org technology stack. Ryan is a professional technologist with a strong background in software development and network architecture. Ryan has been involved with the tech industry since 1999, working with companies like Intel, Dell, and OHSU in multiple capacities. Ryan has also been involved in several developer communities and events where he has volunteered and/or spoken.

Kurt Bittner

Kurt Bittner

Vice President of Enterprise Solutions

Kurt Bittner has more than 30 years of experience delivering working software in short, feedback-driven cycles. He has helped  a wide variety of organizations adopt agile software delivery practices, including large banking, insurance, manufacturing, and retail organizations, as well as large government agencies. He has worked for or with large software delivery organizations including Oracle, HP, IBM, and Microsoft, and is a former technology industry analyst with Forrester Research. His focus is on helping organizations build strong, self-organizing, high-performance teams that deliver solutions that customers love. He is the author of four books on software development-related topics, including The Nexus Framework for Scaling Scrum. He is based in Boulder, Colorado and serves as VP of Enterprise Solutions for Scrum.org.

Patricia Kong

Patricia Kong

Product Owner, Enterprise Solutions

Patricia Kong is the Product Owner of the Scrum.org enterprise solutions program which includes the Nexus Framework, Evidence-Based Management, Scrum Studio and Scrum Development Kit. She also created and launched the Scrum.org Partners in Principle Program. Patricia is a people advocate and fascinated by organizational behavior and misbehaviors. She emerged through the financial services industry and has led product development, product management and marketing for several early stage companies in the US and Europe. At Forrester Research, Patricia worked with their largest clients focusing on business development and delivery engagements. Patricia lived in France and now lives in her hometown of Boston. Patricia is fluent in 4 languages.

Steve Porter

Steve Porter

Professional Series Manager and PST

Steve Porter works with the Scrum.org team of experts and its wider trainer community to create and maintain its Professional Series of courses and assessments. Steve guides this collaborative process to ensure training is current and meets the needs of the professional Scrum community. Before joining Scrum.org, Steve was the product owner for TeamPulse, Telerik’s agile project management tool. He has also provided application lifecycle management (ALM) consulting services for organisations around the globe. At his core, Steve is still a developer. He taught himself how code at an early age and has spent years turning ephemeral ideas into functioning software. It's the joy of this craft that Steve brings to all his interactions at Scrum.org.

Daphne

Daphne Harris

Director of Professional Scrum Trainer Program

Daphne Harris directs Scrum.org's Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) program. She is responsible for growing, developing, and strengthening the PST community of top-notch Scrum trainers. She particularly enjoys learning from Scrum.org's amazing trainers and creating opportunities for community-building within this network. Prior to joining Scrum.org, Daphne was part of a traditional SDLC shop. As a technical writer, she wrote detailed requirement specs for features that would later change, and end-user documentation that was rarely read. Her role in customer service taught her about security and usability challenges. And at a small non-profit she saw how traditional organizations (school districts) balked at change. She every day enjoys being part of the creative self-organized team at Scrum.org.

Betty Z

Betty Zakheim

Product Owner

Betty has 30 years of experience in software development and delivery as a software engineer, engineering manager, product manager, product marketing manager, independent consultant, start-up exec and Gartner analyst. Almost her entire career has been spent developing and delivering tools and techniques that enable IT teams to be more effective. She was an early adopter of iterative software development and lean thinking (in the 1980s). Working with so many companies, using all manner of leading-edge techniques, has given her a unique perspective of what works and what doesn’t work. At Scrum.org, she is working as the Product Owner for new products.

Rob Apmann

Rob Apmann

Assessment Product Manager

Rob is tasked with looking after the assessments at Scrum.org; ensuring that certification is an accurate representation of the certificate holders skills and knowledge of Scrum. Rob has worked in the software and systems development arena for 20 years in Product Management and Product Marketing. Starting his career at Rational Software working on Requirement Management solutions and eventually working on that same topic at Borland Software. Rob has also been a Business Analyst at ING US Financial and DigiTerra Broadband. Just prior to joining Scrum.org Rob worked in Product Management and Product Marketing for IBM’s Data and Analytics solutions. Rob lives and works in Westminster, Colorado where he takes every opportunity to enjoy skiing and the great outdoors with his family.

Sabrina Love

Graphic Designer

Sabrina Love is the Graphic Designer and Learning Path Curator at Scrum.org. She earned her degree in 2014 in Graphic Design from Full Sail University, just before joining Scrum.org in the same year. Prior to that, Sabrina's desire to continuously learn has led to additional experience in hospitality, finance, and architecture. Sabrina's focus at Scrum.org is to collaborate with team members and Professional Scrum Trainers in order to create and curate both graphic and learning content which is functional and easily consumable.

Joel Poiron

Joel Poiron

IT Contractor

Joel is an experienced full-stack software developer with a diverse background in web, mobile, Windows, database, and cloud development. Previously he has worked with Telerik to create TeamPulse, an agile project management tool, with D2L to build their industry leading learning management system, and as a consultant with Imaginet to work on anything and everything. Joel has become known as a highly flexible developer who gets things done quickly and with high quality. He has a passion for the craft of software engineering and shown a strong commitment to delivering value to stakeholders. In addition, Joel holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba and a number of Microsoft technology certifications.

PST Community Manager

Kelly Moosman is pleased to support the Scrum.org community of Professional Scrum Trainers (PSTs). Working closely with Daphne Harris, she enjoys assisting this immensely talented group of individuals with professional development opportunities and fostering community program growth. New to agile and the profession of improving software development, she finds much familiarity and enthusiasm within the Scrum values. Kelly attended university in her home state of North Carolina and has a diverse background which includes multi-unit restaurant operations management and film production. Additionally, she worked with the University of North Carolina- Wilmington’s MarineQuest program and has made several trips to Central America in support of their marine biology program. She asserts that, on the right day, she could surely defeat anyone in most Nintendo games.

Lindsay Velecina

Marketing Communications Manager

Lindsay manages marketing communications at Scrum.org, including public relations and social media efforts. Lindsay has a passion for copywriting, media relations, and branding. She previously led marketing efforts at a packaging engineering firm, where she got their first marketing department up and running. Prior to that, she spent over 5 years running public relations and event planning efforts at a cloud hosting company. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Penn State University. Lindsay is an animal lover and in her spare time enjoys snowboarding and kickboxing.

Kristen White

Kristen White

Office and Classroom Manager

Kristen is our Office Manager and she also manages and coordinates all of the Professional Scrum courses held at our Headquarters in Burlington, MA. She is also a member of our Customer Support and Translation Teams. Kristen aims to help her fellow Scrum.org team members, our community of Professional Scrum Trainers, students and assessment takers in the best way possible. She believes strongly in the Scrum Values and that by sticking to them, you can be successful at anything!

Kristen is an animal lover along with all the other Scrum.org employees.  In her spare time, she enjoys acrylic painting, boxing and kickboxing as well as traveling and spending time outdoors with her husband and dogs.
