8 Reasons That Force You To Learn Scrum

Scrum is a structured way of teamwork. Scrum is popular because it's practical, widely adopted, and genuinely improves how teams work.

Scrum is no longer a specialist competency, but a fundamental literacy for anyone working in a collaborative, modern workplace.

Several triggers force you to start learning Scrum:

1- Getting a new job in the market (like becoming a Scrum Master): Learning true Scrum and getting a certificate like PSM can make candidates more competitive in the Scrum job market.

2- Career growth in your current company: Your company has recently decided to use Scrum. They don’t want to hire a Scrum Master from outside of the company. They ask you to become their Scrum Master. So, you need to learn Scrum to take over this new leadership role successfully.

3- Better way of working: Compared to the traditional way of working (Waterfall), where you had a big delivery at the end of the project, with Scrum, you learn a new approach, which is developing iteratively and delivering incrementally. It supports you in having an adaptation in time to changes.

4- Structured way of Teamwork: You need to learn to work as one of the three predefined Scrum roles (Scrum Master, Product Owner, Developers) and the principles and rules of Scrum to be a real Scrum player.

5- A prerequisite toward Scaled Agile: Once you understand Scrum, it’s easier to learn scaled frameworks like SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus, which are used in large enterprises.

6- Salary Potential: Roles like Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches often command higher salaries because they solve expensive problems—like project delays and team inefficiency.

7- Resume Booster: Having a PSM I certificate on your profile acts as a signal to recruiters that you know Scrum.

8- Company force: Many people learn Scrum simply because their company has mandated it.

You are reading this blog now, which is a signal that you have been thinking of learning Scrum. So, which category are you in?!
