Scrum.org Launches New Self-Paced Online Version of its Professional Scrum Product Backlog Management Skills™ (PSPBM Skills) Training Course
BOSTON, May 7, 2025 – Scrum.org, the Home of Scrum, today announced a new online, self-paced version of the Professional Scrum Product Backlog Management Skills™ (PSPBM Skills) training course. This new online training format from Scrum.org expands learning options beyond its highly regarded live instructor led training formats. The PSPBM Skills course helps Scrum practitioners improve their ability to manage all aspects of the Product Backlog.
In a recent survey conducted by Scrum.org, over 65% of respondents indicated that online self-paced/asynchronous learning (modules that walk you through specific lessons, testing your knowledge along the way) is their learning format preference. The self-paced version of the course features interactive activities, learning checkpoints, suggested Scrum.org learning resources and video elements, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience. This new offering expands on the Scrum.org commitment to help people and teams solve complex problems by providing high-quality, flexible learning experiences for agile practitioners.
Additionally, more than 22% of global online searches on Product Owner capabilities focus on Product Backlog management, highlighting a growing demand for professionals to enhance their skills in this critical area. In the PSPBM Skills course, students learn techniques and methods to effectively manage a Product Backlog and deliver valuable products to delight stakeholders and customers.
“Product Backlog Management is an essential agile product management skill,” said Dave West, CEO Scrum.org. “We are excited to accommodate more learning preferences with this already popular training course and expect more to come. By offering an asynchronous learning experience, more agile practitioners will have the opportunity to take a deep dive into this essential skill in the format that suits them.”
The course is designed to help Scrum practitioners improve their ability to manage all aspects of the Product Backlog and stakeholder communication. Participants will learn techniques and methods to effectively manage a Product Backlog that clearly expresses the Product Goal, bringing transparency to what is most valuable for the Scrum Team to work on.
"In this self-paced course I learned some awesome techniques that will be very useful in my job." said Osny Nobre, student of self-paced PSPBM Skills course. "I loved the stakeholder module as it relates to some challenges I am facing today. I appreciate the flexibility of the self-paced format and being able to take the course on my own time."
As with all PSPBM Skills course formats, students taking the self-paced version of the course will receive a password to attempt the PSPBM Skills certification test. Registration is now open for the self-paced version of the course. Other formats of the PSPBM Skills course taught by Professional Scrum Trainers can be found on the Scrum.org website.
