Class Overview

 

Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) is a 2-day course that covers the principles and (empirical) process theory underpinning the Scrum framework, and the role of the Scrum Master in it. This course is a combination of instruction and team-based exercises and teaches what is at the heart of the Scrum and Agile movement. The course also includes two free attempts at the globally recognised Professional Scrum Master I certification exam (PSM I)

The Professional Scrum Master course is for anyone involved in product development using the Scrum Framework. It is particularly beneficial for those people within an organization accountable for getting the most out of Scrum, including Scrum Masters, managers, and Scrum Team members.

  • Planning and monitoring progress in Scrum

  • Dynamics of self-organizing teams — aspects of motivation, context switching, unique competencies
  • Technical quality versus product costs and value — the concept of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), the impact of technical debt on cost and value of the product, methods for their optimization
  • Organizational change — how to implement changes necessary for Scrum adoption and to maximize its benefits?
  • Scrum Master — who are they and what is their role?
  • Preparing for the PSM I exam — discussing exam rules and sample questions.

Certification & Assessments

All participants completing the Professional Scrum Master course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment. PSM class participants who attempt the PSM I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password and do not score at least 85% will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.

You are also entitled to a 40% discount on the PSM II assessment.

What is included in the price?
The price includes course materials, the PSM I assessment, lifetime certification from Scrum.org and a 40% discount on the PSM II assessment.

How do I achieve the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification?
The PSM I certification is achieved by taking and passing an online assessment in your own time following the course. It can be taken from any internet-connected computer.

What is required to achieve the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification?
The PSM I assessment is comprised of 80 multiple choice questions that must be completed in 60 minutes. The pass mark is 85%. The course fee provides up to 2 attempts at the PSM I assessment

What are the course hours?
We will work between 9 and 17 EEST (Eastern European Summer Time).

Is this class held in person?

Yes! We will work two days in a lovely setting in Helsinki, Finland.

Can I attend on a different date?
Yes. We run courses regularly and if you fail to attend this training we can reschedule you for a different class.

How many people will attend?
Our courses are kept small to ensure a premium experience. Don't expect more than 25 people.

How should I prepare for the course?
The only preparation required is to read the Scrum Guide.

Can I claim PMI PDU credits for attending the course?
Yes. You can claim 14 PDU's for attending a course.

Do you offer discounts?
We usually offer discounts for group bookings, not for profit organisations and hardship cases.

What does the training look like?

  • The course takes place on a set date.
  • It lasts for 2 days.
  • Classes are held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.
  • The training is divided into thematic blocks separated by breaks.
  • Each thematic block lasts between 60 to 90 minutes.
  • It includes group exercises under the supervision of a trainer.
  • The timing and duration of breaks depend on the needs of the participant group and the dynamics of their work.
  • As part of the training, we provide lunch, coffee, and cookies.
