Introduction - seven ways

The Scrum Guide describes the Scrum Master as “accountable for the Scrum Team’s effectiveness.” They do this by enabling the Scrum Team to improve its practices, within the Scrum Framework.” If you’d like to learn more about the foundation of this accountability, we’ve broken down the basics and theory of what a Scrum Master does as a member of a Scrum Team.


As a Scrum Master, you work in teams to solve complex problems building complex products, so there is no one direct path to be a great Scrum Master. However, there are popular insights and ideas Scrum.org can share with you about your accountability and how to be more effective at it. Feel free to take and apply this knowledge as you learn and experiment together with your team.
