All Scrum.org assessments and certifications can now be attempted by anyone, worldwide.
Assessing one’s knowledge is a great way to validate, learn, and improve one’s understanding of a given subject area. Now, Product Owners who need to understand what drives value for their product, and have a keen sense of how to use Scrum to maximize that value can do just that, by attempting the Professional Scrum Product Owner level I (PSPO I) assessment, without taking a course.
Anyone who feels they possess the understanding of Scrum and product ownership, and how they would respond to real situations that would challenge them can validate that knowledge by taking the PSPO I assessment from Scrum.org. Those who pass the assessment with a minimal score of 85% receive the industry recognized PSPO I Certification of that knowledge.
The assessment is rigorous, and although it is no longer required, taking a 2-day Professional Scrum Product Owner course is valuable. The Professional Scrum Product Owner Subject Areas are also available to help you gain the knowledge needed before attempting the PSPO I.
Part of Scrum.org’s mission to improve the profession of software development speaks to Scrum assessments and certifications being based on demonstration of an advanced understanding of a body of knowledge. By making all of our assessments available without having to take a course, we are excited to be even more closely aligned with this belief.
